28192 - The State v. Stacardo Grissett

The Court reverses the court of appeals because although the issue raised is moot, it is one capable of repetition yet evading review. On the merits, we find section 24-21-560(C) requires a community supervision program (CSP) inmate receive credit toward a CSP revocation sentence for time served in jail awaiting adjudication of an alleged CSP violation.

We affirm the court of appeals' decision in Edwards v. Scapa Waycross, Inc., 437 S.C. 396, 878 S.E.2d 696 (Ct. App. 2022). We reaffirm South Carolina's adherence to the substantial factor causation test we adopted in Henderson v. Allied Signal, Inc., 373 S.C. 179, 644 S.E.2d 724 (2007).

28194 - O'Shields v. Columbia Automotive Co.

The Court affirms in full the decision of the court of appeals, particularly upholding the court of appeals' affirmance of the trial court's reduction of the punitive damages award on the basis that the reduced punitive damages award represents the highest award due process allows considering the particular facts of this case. The matter is remanded to the trial court for consideration of additional matters.
