27724 - State v. Harry

The Court reviews the court of appeals' decision in State v. Harry, 413 S.C. 534, 776 S.E.2d 387 (Ct. App. 2015).

27727 - Boone v. Quicken Loans

The Court considers this case, brought in the Court's original jurisdiction, dealing with the unauthorized practice of law.

7-26-2017 - Opinions

27698 - Harleysville Group Ins. v. Heritage Communities, Inc.

In these direct appeals, the Court affirms the Special Referee's findings in both matters as to the scope of coverage under certain Commercial General Liability policies. As to the Special Referee's time-on-the-risk allocation of damages, the Court affirms in the Magnolia North matter and affirms as slightly modified in the Riverwalk matter.

27729 - Daufuskie Island v. Regulatory Staff

The Court reverses the order of the Public Service Commission with respect to Daufuskie Island Utility Company's application for rate increases.

27730 - Patton v. Miller

The question posed in this appeal is whether a minor may bring an action for her own medical expenses. The answer depends on whether she is the "real party in interest," and any dispute over the answer is governed by Rule 17(a) of the South Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure.
