Marvin H. Dukes, III was born in Beaufort, South Carolina to parents Marvin H. Dukes and Priscilla Jones Dukes. He is married to the former Laura Scott Campbell (USC School of Law 1986) and they have one child, Campbell.

Mr. Dukes is a 1984 graduate of Washington and Lee University and a 1987 graduate of USC School of Law. He served as Vice-Chairman of Beaufort County Joint Planning Board from 1994 until 1998 and then served as Vice-Chairman of Beaufort County Council from 1999 until 2002.

Mr. Dukes was in private practice in Beaufort County from his admission to the South Carolina Bar in 1987 until his appointment to the Master’s office in 2007.
